The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is the second largest Sheriff’s Department in the United States.  It employs more than 6,800 officers, deputies and civilians, who perform a number of diverse assignments within the criminal justice system.  These tasks include: providing services and security to all county court facilities, administering the Cook County Jail, and policing the unincorporated areas of Cook County.
